Trail Work

Routt County Riders has been the driving force behind new trail development in receent years.  The numerous trails on Emerald Mountain and Howelson Hill are the resulty of many trailwork days with volunteers leading the way in making Steamboat a better place to ride.  We have integrated sustainable-trail-building standards into many existing trails that have made for a better biking experience all around.

Trails are still being developed, and new fuinding opportunities are being persued to create even more trails and connections within the existing comprehensive trails network.

Current Trailwork projects include:

Rotary Trail: New trail project on BLM land on Emerald Mountain: CLICK HERE

Beall Trail: the "Moose Draw / Agate Creek Trail" that will connect the new Ridge Trail back into the Emerald Mountain trails network.

Freeride Trails: RCR is working closely with the USFS and Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation to bring freeride trails to the Steamboat Ski Area next summer.  Gravity Logic, a nationally recognised leader in freeride trail development, has been hired and has already laid out a comprehensive trails plan that will be the basis of a revision to the Trails Master Plan, which is administered by the USFS.
