Saturday, October 23 rd – Get out and play! · Activities and resources for youth and families about the “Safe Routes to School” programs, bicycle safety and rules of the road (see “FREE FAMILY FUN” below) · Guided bicycle tours of local rides · Tours of Eriksen Cycles and Moots · IMBA's Director of Field Programs, Ryan Schutz, will conduct a Trail Building School on Saturday. The program is free but space is limited.
Ryan will teach the theories and techniques essential to sustainable trail building, which results in trails that require minimal maintenance, protect the environment and enhance visitor enjoyment. Ryan will also discuss more advanced concepts such as "flow" and mountain bike specific design elements like bermed turns and technical trail features. The day will consist of a 3-hour classroom session in the morning, followed by a 4-hour field work session where you'll apply what you learned by building new trail in the Rotary trail system. Join us for a day of fun, education, and giving back to the trails we all love. · 9 AM to noon: IMBA Trail Building School classroom portion. Location: Rex's American Grill and Bar, 3190 S Lincoln Ave, Steamboat Springs · noon to 1 PM: Lunch and mobilize to work site · 1 PM to 5 PM: Trail building workshop at the Rotary Trail System Please bring work gloves and a water bottle. Wear long pants and boots or closed-toe shoes.
